Article A third of Cornish Practices access Excellence in Practice support

EiP Team

Three months on from the launch of the Excellence in Practice programme, we are delighted by the level of interest from our colleagues in Primary Care. Twenty local practices have had discussions with the team about facilitating away-days or providing specific support - either immediately or with dates set for the Spring, to account for the current workload pressures. For those practices requiring more urgent input, we have provided extra capacity with strategic projects, such as those related to premises mergers or service redesign.

The Excellence in Practice site has plenty of practical tools to help your surgery, as well as links to support from NHS Kernow and Kernow LMC. And we are pleased to see that there are around 80 users at this early stage, most of whom come back for more!

In the New Year we will offer some drop in sessions on Teams so that those who would like to know more about what’s on offer can get an overview. Some practices have asked whether the facilitated sessions can be for a whole PCN rather than an individual practice and the answer is definitely YES – this is your service so please tell us what you want from the Team and we will work with you to achieve it.

Sadly, Neil Parsons - who helped design and launch the Excellence in Practice service - is moving to a PCN Strategic Manager role near his home in South Devon in the New Year. We shall miss you Neil but wish you all the best in the new job. Neil worked closely with Tango3 to help design the website and his practical experience as a previous practice and PCN manager, was so helpful when deciding what content local practices would find most useful. We are delighted to tell you that we have two experienced colleagues joining the team, Tina Teague and James Davies.
