GP surgeries set to thrive as new Excellence In Practice programme launches…

After the extraordinary year of 2020, General Practice has been required to go above and beyond to care for its patients. Kernow Health CIC (KHCIC) is now offering member practices support to regroup and rebuild through the new Excellence in Practice (EiP) programme launching today. Excellence in Practice has been designed to work with our partner organisations, Kernow LMC and NHS Kernow, as well as the established Cornwall Primary Care Training Hub. Working collaboratively, EiP offers a one-stop-shop that delivers practice support from the right expert, first time.

A range of tools & techniques

Every practice has both strengths and development opportunities: EiP will help to identify and deliver the changes that are right for the individual practice and its unique population, offering a range of tools and techniques to help prioritise need.

Practices can opt for a facilitated away day to take stock and plan for the months ahead, access self-assessment tools to recognise strengths and areas for development – this could include HR and finance - or discover how well a practice is performing against a range of indicators used by commissioners and the CQC.

‘Space and time to regroup’

Mark Woolcock, Kernow Health CIC CEO, is excited to launch Excellence in Practice to support Primary Care in Cornwall: “This site is the go-to place, bringing all the support offers together from across the county from ourselves, and our colleagues at the LMC and NHS Kernow, making it easy to access services.

“It has been a tough 18 months for all of us involved in the Health and Care system and through Excellence in Practice, you can access facilitated offers to help you have the space and time you need to regroup and shape your business.”

“Kernow Health CIC asked for back- office support functions and we are delighted to now be in a position to provide these functions for Cornwall’s Primary Care.”

Tailored to your individual needs

The programme can be tailored to the needs of your individual practice and experienced Associates, Pam Smith and Neil Parsons are available to guide you through the process. Pam recognises the impact of the pandemic on General Practice: “Inevitably during the pandemic, people have worked under enormous pressure and made changes quickly. We now need to take stock to make sure the way we are doing things is right for the longer term and will be sustainable.”

Much of the support included in EiP is free to member practices of Kernow Health CIC, and where a service is chargeable, members won’t pay VAT on the costs.
